Is it better to play an ace for a partner's trick, or to hold onto it in case you get a chance to play it?
It depends. I usually play them as soon as I get the chance and don't usually hold them. If I think my partner has a King or a 10 to play then I'll play it. If it's the only card you're holding in the suit and the other ace hasn't been played yet then definitely play it so you don't lose it. I tend to save trump cards till the end if I can but I play the Aces early. Just my opinion. Others may disagree.
That is a hard question. Here are 3 links 2 online sites 4 tips cause it would take me a page 2 answer with my strategy. https://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/how-to-play-partnership-pinochle.htm. https://www.britannica.com/topic/pinochle. https://www.powerpinochle.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=394.
Thank you for the tips everyone. I appreciate the input.
Why do players think it's cool to lead a non counter from the back seat? What I mean by back seat is: when someone takes the bid you then have a"driver& a back seat" the driver is behind the bidder and the back seat is behind the driver.simple. the #1 job for the back seat is to put the driver in the lead. The drives job is to drive into the bidder. Don't go dumping your aces right away. Let the driver drive the bidder off his 10 s. Or whatever. If you drop all your aces right away from the back seat then the bidder clowns the driver with 10s. Please learn how to drive and most of all learn how to ride pay attention to who is driving!!!
Why do seasoned, high rated players think it's cool to just dump their aces especially trump right away? Hold your aces so; from the back seat you can peel the bidder off his pointers if the driver is doing his or her job. And from the driver seat you need to hold your aces so the damn backseat can find you and put you in the lead. Once you get in the lead freaking peel the bidder back! I don't hold my aces and put the driver in the lead so he can just dump the aces out of his hand! It's not a greed game.itsa game of constantly changing partner's. The driver and the back seat aro PARTNER'S!
@dangokills ,
Huh? Say what?
If you could use proper Pinochle nomenclature and game parlance then we might understand what you are trying to explain. I personally never have a template for how or when I'm going to use my aces since every hand and game situation is different, including like you mentioned partners, so I think I can deduce what your topic may be. But then once you add it in your... Let's say colorful... Descriptives and adjectives then your total written topic it gets awful cloudy.
There are some occasions when you want to strip out any Trump cards in the opponent's hands and that is quite possible if you have enough power in the Trump suit in your hand. This strategy is quite useful if you are trying to skunk them and take every book. That is a strategy used quite often in the game Spades where the Ace of Spades is almost always thrown as the first card.... Not necessarily by me and other well seasoned strategy players.
If you could please clean up and normalize your explanation because it is an interesting topic.
