I mentioned b4 in introductions problems w friends + blocked players. I have noticed that now u will get teamed w players in friend list. I think if there is a blocked player in waiting players it waits till there is 5 waiting b4 starting game + will start without the blocked player. This app works good
I agree that there needs to be a feature of blocking players that are negative in some way but I do not agree that it's working correctly. You can sit there with four in the ready room waiting for the game to start and the longest sit there the more you know it's because someone has a block on one of the four in the ready room. So now you start to wonder what player it is and someone's going to get a reputation for having a block on their profile. Also, when that fifth player joins and now four players get matched up go off to a table... That black player gets left there and now everyone knows not only who the blocked player was but they could have been the first to sit down in the ready room, waited all that time, and then got screwed of not getting to play! So if they get blocked for a different reasons other than negative then the current system is not good that they get penalized for reputation, sitting around wasting time and not getting to play, and possibly getting blocked by other players for no reason.
I have a couple of people that block me and it's not because I've ever done anything bad or negative to them. It is because they usually lose to me and have gotten tired of that so they block me from getting messed up on the same table with them. I don't mind that and it makes sense for them but because of how the system set up I have been the one sitting there in the ready room getting left and not being able to play yet I was one of the first ones in the waiting room.
Like I said in the beginning I think this feature is needed and I don't have a solution around the issues I mentioned. Maybe we have to live like it is where some of the innocent players get burned because the need to control the negative players as much higher.
@Mike-Ox-Big
Thanks for the feedback and I think you're right. It's not working. I am trying to think of ways to improve this.
I don't want to over-penalize players from dropping out because sometimes it happens and it's not their fault. It could be that their Internet connection drops, battery dies or people have emergencies and they need to cut it short. If this happens once in a while don't want to ban people from the game completely, but players who frequently don't respect their fellow players should be isolated.
I am revisiting the ranking system and points taken away for dropping to try to make it more effective, perhaps increasing penalty based on frequency, and also possibly changing the system to automatically credit the win to the people who stay when a player forfeits. Also, thinking about exclusive tables for high ranked players.
Several players have asked to create a chips-based system and high stakes tables where players earn an allowance of chips over time and have to put up chips to join the table. A portion of the chips would be treated like a deposit and a portion would go towards the winner's pot. If you win you collect the chips from the pot. If you lose you get your deposit back. If you don't complete the game you forfeit your chips. When you run out of chips you can't play the high stakes table anymore until you earn more. I like this idea but need to flesh it out some more.
If you or anyone else reading have any thoughts or feedback on this would certainly welcome more ideas like this.
@Josh ,
Every idea or remedial fix that you mentioned above is similarly in the works of some level of iteration on several different sites and they are all good working ideas. Ironically, and that other email I sent you I asked if it would be all right to send you another email regarding these kinds of ideas. I will let you know where they're at as well so you can see them in action.
